This week, Subfighter MMA Head Instructor Tracy Hess demonstrates his Helicopter Arm Bar technique with MMA fighter Max Demian at Affliction headquarters.

So I’ve been slacking on updating the blog a bit, but not without reason! Last Sunday (Dec 11, 2016) we had our team competing in the Russ Miura Subfighter (sister-school) Holiday Nogi Challenge. We had ~18 people competing, and with only myself and Tracy coaching, there wasn’t much time for pictures.

We had 9 promotions.

Blue: Gabriela Ochoa, Long Tran, Patrick Fernandez, Hector Ruiz & Jesse Herrera

Purple: Ryan Medina, Josh Jones & Bryson Gutches

Brown: Brett Cooper

Congratulations to everyone that got promoted. Some of these were wayyy overdue!

Was at the Global Jiu Jitsu Academy in Fountain Valley last weekend for the latest Grapplethon. Only managed to take one shot of it, but I managed to find a couple shots of me in other people’s photos!

The day after Henry fought at Get Down Fights, we are at Subfighter in Laguna for the Subfighter Men’s Nogi Round Robin Classic. Outside of all the butt flopping for foot locks and the one whiney purple belt throwing a baby tantrum after he lost because he accidentally got smacked during a scramble, it was a pretty good day. 6 competitors, 5 medals, didn’t have to ref and got to see old friends again!
