November 2021 - Knockout Fight League
by Maxamilian Demian on Nov 14, 2021
Another Knockout Fight League amateur MMA show in the books.
This time we had 2 fighters on the card looking to get their first wins.
First up was Salvador Gonzalez. Sal lost a decision in his MMA debut but was better prepared for what to expect this time around. He spent all 3 rounds ground & pounding his opponent after early takedowns to win a unanimous decision. He even showed a little standup in the fight after he established the fear of the takedown!
Then we had Carlos Ardines. Also 0-1, he lost his debut against one of our debuting fighters back in June 2015 (you can see that event here). Now nearly six-and-a-half years later he trains with us and was ready to get that first amateur win. He made short work of his opponent, winning by RNC in just 22 seconds of the first round. Neither fighter actually took a clean hit, but Carlos squeezed the choke so tight that blood squirted from his opponent's nose!
That was the day for our guys, going 2-0. But Raja Jackson (the son of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson) was also making his debut this night and though he is Team Body Shop, he also cross-trains with us (most Subfighter & Body Shop fighters cross-train with eachother). He had a tough opponent & after reversing a takedown in the first, he won the round with some solid ground & pound. In the second round, it was a replay of the first. Raja's opponent got a takedown, got reversed and then ground & pounded. Only this time, Raja did enough work on top to get the fight stopped and win via 2nd round TKO.
