October 2017 - Extreme Fighters
by Maxamilian Demian on Oct 21, 2017
So earlier this month (October 7) we had Gabriel Green fighting at a new show called Extreme Fighters (http://extremefighters.tv). They decided to have their first show at the CSU Long Beach Pyramid, which for Gabe was sort of a homecoming as he actually graduated from CSULB and it was his first time back since. The card featured guys like former UFC title contender Karo Parisyan, SoCal BJJ legend Cleber Luciano & was supposed to have UFC veteran Antonio McKee, but he got injured before the show and had to pull out.
Gabe fought 20+ fight veteran Ivan Castillo. The 2 fighters traded on the feet for a for a bit, with Gabe even eating a clean head kick early in the 1st round. After a lot of clinch work on the cage that had both fighters reversing each other back-and-forth across the cage literally from one side to the other, Ivan went for a trip takedown which Gabe reversed and passed straight to the mount position. Ivan turned to try and get up, giving gabe his back. Anyone that has trained with Gabe knows that he can body triangle anybody that gives him their back, and that's exactly what he did the moment he had the chance. Moments later he is ripping a Gable-grip rear naked choke (or "Josh Choke" if you find a video and hear me screaming it in his corner ) and wins via submission in the first round of his fight.
Since Gabe was our only fighter on the card, we got to enjoy watching the rest of the fights that night for once!
Bonus pictures:
- Fighting for Autism. An awesome shirt being worn by fighter C.J. Leveque. It's a nice change to see something positive on a fighters walkout gear.
- Tyler Wombles — Owner of Classic Fight Team — with his team's logo freshly tattooed on his neck!
- Karen Darebedyan getting stitched up by the doc after WINNING his fight... Like i've said a million times, the sport is not all glamour, even for the winners.
